Founder & Director

Meet the founder and director of SOS4Students, who is a frequent presenter, keynote speaker, and educational expert.

Beth Samuelson

Beth Samuelson has spent more than 25 years helping teens, young adults, and parents succeed, developing innovative approaches to executive function coaching and educational support. Today, SOS4Students is recognized as one of the leading providers of executive function coaching and related services in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As the founder and director of SOS4Students, Beth is a highly sought-after presenter and keynote speaker, celebrated for her energy, enthusiasm, humor, practical insight, and communication style. Much of Beth’s understanding of executive function came from her own trial-and-error experiences as a student. At the time, there was limited knowledge about how the student brain operates or how executive function impacts learning and study habits. She learned to create her own systems—developing note-taking methods, effective test preparation strategies, and organizational/planning skills.

SOS4Students was among the first organizations to provide executive function coaching specifically for tweens and teens. Over time, it grew into one of the Bay Area’s premier academic support providers, offering personalized one-on-one coaching, student and parent workshops, advocacy services, and professional development programs for educators.

Educator’s Background

Beth began her teaching career in public elementary schools in San Francisco and Los Angeles before moving into private school education. She also worked within an LA-based psychology practice providing academic support, as well as offering college counseling, SAT preparation, study skills coaching, tutoring, and teen workshops through various organizations.

She earned her Master’s in Education from UC Berkeley, specializing in cognitive and moral development. While she has taught all grade levels, Beth has a particular passion for working with teens and young adults. Transitioning from the classroom to private practice, she quickly developed expertise in adolescent development and executive function skills.

Beth’s early work combined academic coaching with collaboration alongside psychologists and college counselors. She went on to design study skills curricula for middle and high school students, eventually founding SOS4Students—first in West L.A. and later in the Bay Area—with what was then a groundbreaking focus on executive function skill development.
